Founded as an LLC company, Meydan Sobha is a joint venture between the Meydan Group and Sobha Realty and is a free-zone company for 50%. The company is responsible for developing parks, residential areas, commercial spaces, waterways, forests, and other areas. All of this takes place on the territory of Mohammed Bin Rashid City (MBR) and covers an area of more than 600 hectares, which is about the size of 750 football fields combined. 

Together with the Sobha Group (originally an Indian company with a track record of more than 40 years), the company announced the District One project in March 2013. This project is entirely freehold and covers an area of over 1.000 hectares. Located along Al Khail Road, the area is close to the famous Meydan racecourse and in proximity to all other main points of interest in Dubai.
