Dubai South, formerly known as Dubai World Central, is a self-contained district. The area is near the Al Maktoum International Airport, which is aiming to become the largest airport in the world. Upon completion, Dubai South will be a perfect blend of residential properties, commercial and logistics spaces and the aviation industry. Being a city within a city, the district will offer all kinds of amenities so that residents do not have to leave the area to get what they need. Dubai South is a free zone, meaning that businesses don’t have to pay any taxes here. The district is an idea of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum himself and is the host of World Expo 2020 and home of the annual Dubai Airshow event.
Dubai South covers 145 sq. km. and is located 5 min from Al Maktoum Airport and 20 minutes from Sheikh Zayed Road. In the future, Dubai South will be home to more than 1 million residents spread over numerous apartment buildings and villas. The district has a direct connection with Jebel Ali Port through a dedicated logistics corridor. Dubai South also has access to the main trans-Emirates highways, Al Maktoum Airport and the future Etihad Rail Network, providing the area with unrivaled speed, connectivity, and resilience.

For those wanting to live in Dubai South, the last district is the one where you can find residential objects. The area covers 6.7 million sq. km. and is close to central Dubai and the Expo 2020 site. The Residential area is also divided into 2 parts:
The spacious apartments in Dubai South come in the form of studios and 1-4 bedroom apartments while most of the townhouses and villas have 3 or 4 bedrooms. The latter also provides a maid’s room, a storage room, laundry space, and a private garden.
Public transport facilities will be of excellent quality in Dubai South. The area will have its own metro line, Route 2020, which is an extension of the red line and which makes your daily commute a breeze. There will also be numerous bus lines serving the area and this number will increase as the area grows.
Car owners can park their cars in the basement parking when living in an apartment (1 space per apartment) while the villas each have covered parking for at least 2 vehicles. You can easily get to other parts of the city by taking Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311).

When Dubai South will be 100% completed, the area will be a self-sufficient district, meaning that residents have easy access to health, education and retail facilities. As the area is coming of age in the years to come, it is hard to say when exactly all these facilities will open. However, lots of these venues are already functioning. If there is something that you can not find in Dubai South, you can definitely find it in one of the neighboring districts such as Dubai Investment Park, or Jebel Ali.
