Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City, more often referred to as MBR City, is a mixed-use development that was announced in 2012 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum himself. MBR City is a collection of new projects in Dubai with a total worth of AED 30 billion. The area will host tourist facilities, leisure venues, the largest shopping center on the globe and a huge park in the largest-in-size man-made lagoon. At the same time, there will be no less than 45 million square feet of off-plan residential properties. In May 2015 the project was officially inaugurated and the works on the numerous new projects in MBR City began.
MBR City has a central location, allowing residents to get to almost any point in Dubai in less than 25 minutes. The area is surrounded by a number of highways, of which these are the most important:
Business Bay, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Design District, and Al Quoz.
The masterplan for MBR City comprises several parts of which these are the main areas.
Meydan City: This development will take up about 25% of MBR City. After completion, this area will surround the Dubai Racing Club and house a number of residential developments, such as Sobha Hartland, MBR City District One, Nad Al Sheba and Meydan 1.
Dubai Hills Estate: This area will cover about 1,200 hectares (2,965 acres) with new buildings, golf courses, and parks.
MBR City District Eleven: This neighborhood covers about 400 hectares (988 acres).
No allocation: About 6,600 hectares (16,310 acres) has not been allocated yet.
MBR City is only 10 minutes away from Business Bay where residents have access to the Red Metro Line with the stations Business Bay and Noor Bank. There will also be several bus lines gooing around but as the area is currently under development not many of them are active at the moment. Car-owners can park their cars in the covered parking usually provided in the basements of apartment buildings. Those that reside in a villa usually have access to multiple parking spaces. MBR City is surrounded by numerous highways so getting to another part of the city, or even country, is not that complicated.
Heli Pad AHC (9 min), Helipad Shaikh Ahmad Building - 308th Rd (14 min), Helipad 1 Nadd Al Sheba Road (15 min)
MBR City is currently under construction but the deadline for most projects is Expo2020. With the arrival of this event to the UAE, lots of amenities have been announced. One of the biggest eye-catchers among those is the Meydan One Mall, which is planning to overtake the title of the largest mall in the world from the Dubai Mall. This huge venue will offer residents and guests more than 550 retail outlets and a giant hypermarket that covers no less than 13.200 sqm. It also features a 1km indoor ski slope surrounded by the 12.000 sqm winter village. The planned Dancing Water Fountain is supposed to dwarf the famous fountains in Downtown. Furthermore, there will be a giant medical center, a lagoon that spreads 8.2 km, 90 food & beverages outlets and ample parking.
